General Practice

Good health starts with regular care. Our general practice team works alongside you to keep your pet healthy at every stage of life, from the first puppy or kitten visit through the senior years.
What It Is and When It's Used
General practice covers routine and ongoing care, including: Wellness exams, vaccinations, dental care and cleanings, parasite prevention, and management of ongoing conditions such as allergies, arthritis, diabetes, and kidney disease.
Most healthy adult pets do well with a yearly exam. Puppies, kittens, seniors, and pets with medical conditions often need to come in more often.
Benefits for Your Pet
Pets are good at hiding illness. A regular exam helps us spot problems early, when they are often easier to treat. Vaccines help protect against serious infectious diseases. A vaccine works like a training drill for the immune system: it introduces a harmless version or piece of a germ so the body learns to recognize it, and can respond faster and more strongly if the real germ ever appears. Dental care can prevent pain, tooth loss, and infection. Looking after long-term conditions can help your pet stay comfortable and active for longer.
What to Expect
Before: Bring your pet's records, a list of medications and food, and any questions you have. A fresh stool sample is often helpful.
During: Your veterinarian will check your pet from nose to tail, including the eyes, ears, teeth, heart, lungs, skin, joints, and weight. We'll talk about diet, behavior, and lifestyle, and recommend vaccines or tests based on your pet's age and risks. Blood work may be suggested to set a baseline or to check on known conditions.
After: You'll go home with a clear plan and reminders for the next visit. If we find something that needs attention, we'll explain your options.
A Note on Dentistry
Dental cleanings are done under general anesthesia. This lets us clean below the gumline safely and take dental X-rays. Before the procedure, we'll give you instructions on fasting and pre-anesthetic testing.
